48 hours later.

Prom's finally over. Yeah, it's sad that everything has to come to an end, but, then, it's just realities in life. If only we could turn back the clock, but then, no such thing exists.

So, it was fun, although there were a few things that could be better.
1)A buffet could be better, as most people would think that a buffet would mean more food choices.
2)The ballroom. It was a bit disappointing, as i realised that CHS had a prom ballroom that's much bigger than ours, not to mention a higher ceiling.
3)The dance music. Why disco-like all the time? Could at least play some romantic music for couples to dance together. But then, my gf was kinda happy that she didn't need to dance slowly, and falling down. What happened instead was some hugs, caresses, and French kisses. Okay, it was messy, but most importantly, i'm fine with it.

Points To Ponder, Maybe?

Looking at the calendar today, the only thing that came out mf my mind was this:-
'Oh shit, it Prom Nite tomorrow!! And my hair looks like a lion!

Ah, whatever, i thought. Besides, Prom night is all about being known as the best damn thing to happen all December, after all that SPM hell.

Wanna know how it feels like sitting for SPM? A whole list of days which i sat my papers is all you'll be seeing below, right now.
Day One-BM-Actually, it wasn't as bad as expected.
Sejarah? No comment, since it's the objective paper.

Day Two-English: The topic that you wouldn't bear to stomach when trying to do an essay. The topic? School Students have too long holidays. Do you agree?
Well, being a student that has been pumped in with lots of English education, i'm gonna have to support the parents. So, 'Yes' would be the answer. The damages of writing something like that? 1000 words. Dead. And a sore hand.

Next up came Sejarah. Unsurprisingly, in line with the 1Malaysia concept (which i can't trust, and hate). Questions like what would we do to boost racial unity smacks loudly of 1Malaysia. Call it anything, and although it sounds like an "**************" process, valuable marks were there, so can't afford to lose 'em..

Fast Forwarding to Last Monday.....

It was a day where no one from my class, except for me who took the Economics paper.
And, looking back at last week, i'm glad it's just all over. But then, why should i be the last fella to go "Merdeka!!"?!

ROFL!!

What would Arsene Wenger (Arsenal manager) do if he had 40 million pounds to spend?
Answer-Buy 700 10-year olds.

Man, can he be such a maverick to do so? That sounds like child labour. Lol.

If you don't like BM, get out.

Well, the SPM examinations are only a few days away. And although i wasn't the best year for me, at least hell will be over in 4 weeks.

Okay, gotta break. Back to work. For another hour..haha...

It's okay to elect tainted people. For the BN.

Whoo, a 5000+ vote-majority for the BN in the Bagan Pinang by-election? Does this prove that it is okay for UMNO to erradicate people like Beng Hock, Kugan? The rise of money politics-UMNO Edition 2010? See, i'm still scratching my head..

Speaking of which, i found this campaign ad from Pakatan, which should raise a few eyebrows, and laughs.....Check it out below..

Thanks to The Nut Graph.
PS-Check out the dollar bill. It should be the new note of Malaysia. The land of upcoming...you know.. XD.

Impartial royalty is no more

For heaven's sake, why is the Sultan of Pahang urging people to support BN? if so, might as well descend from your throne and join the BN. Don't be another Sultan Of Perak, who has lost the faith of the rakyat due to his stance in the Perak political fiasco. But, i see him following the footsteps of that man.

Again, for heaven's sake, all royalty should keep a low profile, and most importantly, STAY NEUTRAL in politics.

Only thy shall be able to run the country.

Well, that's what the PM said. Sort of.

'Unlike the opposition, the BN has never made promises they can't make.' Quote:- the PM mentioned above.

Okay, but have you erradicated the bad stuff in your party? That is why, scorn shall be poured on him.

But, i think of him as the Ultimate Bourbons of M'sia. People who understand politics, you'll get my words. For those who don't, put down those revolting Twilight and your other crap and start understanding a piece of politics.

Of The Influenza and The Stupid Mentality

Recently, our Health Minister said that he plans to take full action on schools when the mortality rate of the H1N1 influenza hits 0.4 percent, saying that it;s now at 0.1 percent.

Sounds too safe to be true? I have doubts about it, and, let me rebut the facts. As of today, an estimated 5500 people have been confirmed with the virus. So, if you said that only 0.1 people have died from the influenza, that would equate to a total of 5-6 people. But, unfortunately, as of 21st of August, the death toll in Malaysia stands at approximately 70 people.

Therefore, if you'd do the math of 70 over 5500, it'll stand at approximately 1.35 percent. So what the hell are you talking about, Sir? We need real, hard facts, not just watered-down statements.

Hoping to turn you on.......
And, when can i meet you again.... Hopefully soon...

The table's been set. The syllables' been complete. And it's time.

Well, it's the trials, obviously. And it's one week after smarting from the judges descision that mena t we still lost to Seafield in choir compeditions. Ah, frusturating. But not now, i've got the cursed trials. And it starts with BM paper 1. Damnit. But, wish me luck though. For the next 30 days. Without a girlfriend, without some decent conversations, without at least somedecent sleep, sacrificing my everything. But, what can i do? I'm already Form 5, to say the least.

Education, Malaysian-Style Indeed

Science And Maths In BM And Mother Tongue In 2012

PUTRAJAYA, July 8 (Bernama) -- The teaching and learning of science and mathematics in national schools will revert to the Malay language effective 2012.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the teaching and learning of the two subjects in Chinese and Tamil national-type schools would be carried out in their respective mother tongue.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said the cabinet today approved the suggestion by the ministry to empower the Malay language and strengthen the teaching and learning of the English language at all levels of schooling.

"This strategy was drawn up based on the study and monitoring carried out by the Education Ministry on the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English since the policy was implemented in 2003," he said when making the announcement at the Education Ministry, here on Wednesday.

The first group of students who studied science and mathematics in the English language since Year One sat for their Ujian Penilian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) last year.

It's a bit old to post this article, but, seriously, there's a lot of things to say. I just can't believe that we're moving backwards in our education system. The reason to abolish this policy?

1)They want to make the rural folk happy. Making them happy= Antiquated rural folk+ Fuming urbanites (us, that means).

2) Pressure from those Malay NGO's-I won't say who they are, but they are real pains in the asses of our education system, only insisting on subjects to be taught in BM.

What to do then? I don't know too. Well, move out of the country? Suddenly, i feel like kicking those asses who pressed for the abolishment of this policy.

Best Karangan? Worst Karangan? You Decide.

Pagi itu pagi minggu. Cuaca cukup sejuk sehingga mencapai takat suhu beku.

Dia melanggar emak saya. Emak saya tercampak ke dalam gaung. Dia menjerit “Adoi!”.

Hmmm, suddenly i've got that craving to get a can of beer. Oh, yeah, top that with a nice, fat dollop of vanilla ice cream. This essay is like the new stress-buster, yeah, whatsoever, over my dead body.

So much of reforms, but we still HATE you!

Apparently, our PM introduced 11 new policies, which, i felt wasn't benefiting the middle class people, that's us. So during the NTV7 news programme, they wanted to know your opinion with this topic.

"With the inplementation of the 11 new policies, will Dato Seri Najib's approval rating increase from the current 64 percent as of July?"

So, it's either a YES or NO. And guess what? It was shocking, yet, something to cheer about.
93 percent said NO! Heck, in your face, Mr. PM!

China did it....AGAIN...Part 1.01

I know the title above sounds stupid, but, believe me, you might find that it makes sense after all..

So, for starters, ever heard of the Rolls-Royce Phantom? For those who know about the car, it's one where luxury, refinement, opulence, comes second to none. Speaking of which, here it is.

On the other hand, a small, less established car company, aptly called Geely (gosh, that sounds, 'geli'...WTF??), who'd decided that the great Rolls shouldn't be entitled to such a big pie of the uber-luxury market share, so, it has decided to make a competitor.

And guess what? This is the end product, and do laugh as much as you want..

Looks disturbingly similar, eh? From what i see, hell, YEAH! So let's move on and try and break down some of its specs....

Firstly, an uber-luxury car is all about the engine, performance, and, power. While the Rolls-Royce makes with a 5.9 V12 that could be used as a 'pasar-malam' generator to power tens and tens of 'pasar-malams', not to forget 550 horses in the engine. On the other hand, the GE (anybody wanna guess whether General Electric will sue them for the name?) uses a 3.5 litre V6 sourced by Toyota. Wait a minute. Toyota? maybe that's the reason it'd go from 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. The Phantom? 5.5s. And that's for a vehicle which weighs almost double. Now, EAT THAT, Geely....

Next, ever wondered how much it costs? Apparently, we can get one for just a nicker of 30 grand, in US dollars.....compared to the Rolls, which costs 250 grand........

In short, this Geely GE, (or whatever motherfucking name it is..) is a fine piece of crap engineering, blatant immitations, below par finishes, horrible quality control, wheezy or underpowered engines, not to forget, cheesy handling.

Oh, did i forget to mention that they're cheap? Thanks, but no thanks. i'd still take the Optima with that money, thank you.

What comes around comes around....AS IF

Gosh, i feel, so 'tall' and old. Not to mention being bogged with compliments from my fellow DJians saying i have a DFC, which, in long terms, the Diong Fan Club.

But, it's okay, because there's nothing wrong with it. Hmm.....now where's the rest of thy real popular people... Like Keefe, the other Fifth former of the DJ Choir who was also bogged by a lot of 'clamshell', or in Chinese terms, 'lala' girls from Seafield.....

Choir+Camaderies= Semi Havoc

Boy, it sure is a long time from not blogging, no thanks to exams, work, and, THE STATE LEVEL COMPEDITION!!!!!! That's driving me nuts. Anyways, time to talk about the state level choir compedition for all Selangor District champions, that was held last week.

After 1 months' of preparations, adjustments as well as a whole lot of sore throats, it was time. The time to face reality. The time that decides whether we will make it to the nationals. On the bus, it was all a solemn mood, as we braced ourselves for the compedition. Like how people would say-If you're too confident and excited, you have a higher possibility of being written off. That, however, doesn't reflect the general mood, instead, of mine.

So, 9 schools, almost 2 hours later, here's the lowdown on the schools' performances.

The last school to perform, which i think is from Kuala Selangor, did a rendition of a popular English song from the olden days, which, turned out to be a total wreck. Being all malays(no pun intended) they sounded really desperate to make the effect of a real english choir, which, if you give this sone to the Filipinos, they would sound a million times better than this group of, er, well, i don't know how to describe these singers. The same thing applies to practically 4 of the choirs, which sounded just like the last group.

Horrible pre-dominantly lousy Malay choir singers aside, there was one team from Semenyih that really impressed us, although they didn't win, their rendition of The Lion Sleeps Tonight realy got people singing to it...

Then you have Convent Klang. One of the only two choirs to do some Broadway-style movements, it definitely paid off for them when they got 3rd.

But one of the shock defeats not many expected was SMK Seafield. Touted to be one of the powerhouses to beat SMK Kepong, they slumped to a rather lowly 4th place. Even i was shocked, as i'd expected a three-cornered fight between Seafield, Convent Klang and Kepong.

So in the end, despite Damansara Jaya making it into the top three, we'd still slump to the all time-bulletproof winners, SMK Kepong. And for that, they will be going to Johor next month for the nationals.

Two word for Kepong- Damn It!

So, as the lowdown, many thanks to everybody who had propelled the SMK Damansara Jaya choir into greater heights. No matter who you are, whether the hyperactive ones, the bossy ones, the bi*chy ones, REMEMBER, you are all winners, and we are always a family.

By the way, can anybody tell me how to put the bloody photos into Blogger? Everytime i try to put in a photo, it always end up at the top of the damn posting, and refuses to be placed at the bottom. So, can somebody tell me? If you know how to do so, write me an email to sherndiong@hotmail.com. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Umno Penang confident of Malay voters returning to BN

FROM MALAYSIA TODAY

Umno Penang is confident Malay voters in Penanti would return to the Barisan Nasional (BN) fold, as witnessed during the Bukit Selambau and Bukit Gantang by-elections on April 7.

Umno Penang secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, who is also the opposition leader, said it was only a matter of time before the Indian and Chinese voters too returned to the BN.

"With the brand of politics played by Pakatan Rakyat, especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) by forcing by-elections, voters are getting fed-up.

"They are not happy with the forced by-elections and they would retaliate. We are confident of the Malay votes, and we will have to work on the Chinese and Indian voters," Azhar said on the sidelines of the Penang legistative assembly sitting.

In Penanti, which has 15,421 voters, Malays form 73%, Chinese 24% and Indians 2% of the voter base.

To a question if Umno was afraid it would lose and hence is considering not to contest, Azhar said the by-election was a waste of time and funds, hence Umno's reluctance to participate in the by-election.

He reiterated that it would make no difference to Umno if it won or lost the by-election upon contesting.

"We have 11 seats out of 40, and winning another one would not matter anywhere in the equation as we won't topple the government. Losing it also does not make any difference as it was not our seat to start with," he added.

Asked if Umno Penang was geared up to face the by-election, Azhar said they would wait for further instructions from the party leadership.

"We have not started our election machinery in Penanti so far, and as soon as we are informed one way or another of what the party decides, we will do the needful," he added.

He also warned that if the party decided not to field any candidates and Umno members stood as independents, disciplinary action would be taken.

His stand on the matter contradicts what has been recommended by Gerakan vice president Huan Cheng Guan, who suggested that if BN did not want to take part in the by-election, BN members should be allowed to contest as independents.

Azhar said Huan was entitled to his opinion, but Umno would not support any of its members standing as independents.

READ THIS:

"With the brand of politics played by Pakatan Rakyat, especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) by forcing by-elections, voters are getting fed-up.

He thinks so, but let's not forget the 'Chinese squatters' issue brought up by a member of this party. And not to forget their scare tactics during buy-elections. Hmmm........without doubt, there will definitely be some Malays who will go back to UMNO, but there are also disgruntled people who have deserted themselves as well to back the Opposition. In short, status quo(less than partially)

Anyways, i apologize for not updating the blog for a long time. Stupid modem broke down....

Remember This? It's finally landed!

We Malaysians can be a real dated lot when it comes to these shows.
The U.S had it's release in January.
We Malaysians? March 7th. How slow.
But then, better late than never.
And way better than that bullshit Twilight show. Emo + Retarded-looking man+Slutty woman. Gosh. This-Explosions, Torturings, the lot. Damn.

IPhone 3G by Maxis-Ridiculous or Just A Tech Marvel?

It's a mixed bag, unfortunately. So, let's start with the pros:-
1-It's brilliant when you're planning to surf the net. And brilliant means fast.
2-The Safari Internet applications is REAL good..
3-It's party piece lar....what else but the ever 'legendary' IPod?

And now, the cons:-
1-Look at the price-It's friggin expensive! RM2540 for the 8GB model, and RM2960 for the 16GB model? Might as well go for a HTC Touch 3G-At 2k a pop, almost the same features, yet you can put in an 8GB memory card and you'll still have around 900 bucks! Note that the price is using their most basic pack, the Value Plus Plans.
2-Use their iValue 4 plan, and go on a 2-year contract. With that pack, you'll get the phone for free. But, who's going to pay RM375 a month? In 2 years, you'll be Rm9000 poorer! Want more space for your iPhone? Then shell out an extra RM260 for the 16GB model. Yes, you'll have 2500 minutes of talk time, but will you spend that much?

So, there you have it, it's a very desirable phone, but, you'll shell out wads of cash just to have one. So as an alternative, why don't get one from parallel importers? You'll just need to shell out 4/5 ths less. Or get a HTC smartphone. Way better and safer way to put yout hard-earned money.

MB blames SELCAT for his loss? Unsurprising.

Ehh, Khir Toyo(ex-Selangor MB), come on lar, you blame the SELCAT(Select Commitee On Compatability, Accountacy and Transparency) for your loss in the UMNO Youth polls? Please lar, the opposition has spilled the beans on you, and you start shooting them? Might as well blame yourself for whatever you've done during your tenure as Selangor Menteri Besar, and, most importantly, be a man to confess, not hide under the table and be a sore loser.

As how a fellow blogger said after you lost your MB post, you allegedly tried to destroy the documents as an act of sabotage. Right. Not so good lar. Be a man and admit defeat. In life, everybody has their ups and downs, and you're not immune from it, and so am i.

Earth Hour-Increasing Awareness, or Mere Cheap Publicity?

Obviously, you don't need a genius to give you the answer, as it's one hell of a mere CHEAP (when i say it, i mean it) publicity stunt by the organization that spearheaded this campaign.

Briefly, we definitely know that most of us would definitely keep unwanted lights on (just typical Malaysian attitude). And, how often would we try and make the utmost effort to switch off unwanted lights? Well, it isn't surprising that less than a quarter of us M'sians do. Honestly, on a normal day, i would have only 5 lights on at night, 2 for the driveway, and 3 for indoors. And, they're just the lights i need as it lightens up just the kitchen and living room. Need i say more?

And why do i say publicity stunt? In my personal capacity, it looks like not everybody is that receptive to what ever this particular organuzation is doing, hence, the need for this campaign.
Again, personally, i wouldn't mind, if this campaign stresses on switching off unwanted lights anytime, everyday, but, this campaign says otherwise. And screw those fucking concerts dedicated to Earth Hour. Do we really need such concerts? Generally, i think not. Remember, you need those real bloody high-powered spotlights just to make sure everybody sees these so-called 'earth loving artistes'.

So, to those claiming to love the earth right now, you should have done this earlier. And, anybody that criticzies me for being a hypocrite, let me tell you this-Look at the downside to it. Screwed-up hypocrites.

Regards,
David Diong

First Posting

Hey, David Diong here. Took me a long time to make a blog, so forgive me if i'm rather outdated. Will be posting some opinions on current issues soon.
